The amazing things a cat will eat - meet Porscha

Porscha is a 20 week old domestic shorthair cat who presented at Blackburn Vet Centre recently with a concerning problem. Her owners had noticed her retching quite frequently the morning we saw her and they were understandably very concerned about what was happening with their new addition to the family. During examination, Porscha was quite uncomfortable in her throat, and retched on numerous occasions.

George the British Short hair and his sore leg

Recently we were visited by George, a 4 year old male British Shorthair cat. George's owner was concerned that he had been a bit sore on his left front leg for a few days now, and wasn't improving much at all. It was soon realised that x-rays were required to investigate the problem further. These x-rays revealed that George unfortunately had a fracture in this leg, in an area equivalent to a human hand between the wrist and fingers.

Huckle, an 11 year old DSH cat had been seen by us for a growth on his chin that was getting worse over time. It had gotten to the point of bleeding and causing him pain when it rubbed on objects. It was recommended that we biopsy the lump to try and find out what we were dealing with and the
best way to treat it.

Senior cat Sooty, enjoys successful recovery after orthopaedic surgery

Poor Sooty. He was fine that morning but by the time his owners got home after 8pm that night they could see he was in trouble. Sooty's right hind leg was obviously badly injured- he could hardly put any weight on the leg. (Sooty is pictured here with his carers Elizabeth and Catherine)

Smokey's big adventure

Smokey, a beautiful domestic long-haired cat recently visited us. He was brought in to the clinic by two lovely people who had found him straying around outside their home. Unfortunately he wasn't wearing a collar with any identification, so it was a mystery as to who his owners really were.
