Blockage in Fox Trot's bladder

Fox Trot is a three year old Egyptian Mau who recently visited us because he was having trouble urinating. His owner had noticed that Fox Trot was uncomfortable in his abdomen and often straining when trying to toilet. An assessment of Fox Trot revealed his urethra had been blocked and a catheter tube was needed to be placed urgently to relieve this blockage.

Thierry consumes meat tray sachet

Thierry is a 4 year old black and white cat who found a meat tray that had been left out. Obviously it smelt very appealing! Unfortunately, so did the absorbency sachet which was still on the tray. In fact, Thierry decided to eat part of the sachet. His owner brought Thierry into the clinic when the half eaten sachet was noticed.

Blitzem's habit of eating unusual things

Blitzem is a six year old Cornish Rex who visited us because he wasn't feeling well and was refusing to eat. He also has a history of eating things he shouldn't so when he became ill, his owners were naturally quite concerned. On examination, a firm, long abnormal structure could be felt in his abdomen. X-rays were taken and they confirmed that something foreign was lurking in his bowel.

Stardust, a 21 year old Senior star

Meet Stardust, a 21 year old domestic short haired cat, who has been visiting our clinic since 1997. She is a beautiful girl who regularly visits the clinic for Senior Health Checks. Through blood and urine testing performed on Stardust over the years we were able to detect early renal disease in 2007. Since then Stardust has had a change of diet in order to support her kidney health and we have been continuing to perform tests on Stardust every 3 to 6 months in order to monitor her kidney function.

Tabitha survives car accident

Five year old Tabitha went for a wander one evening and returned home looking very flat and uncomfortable. Her upset owner brought her to us promptly. Tabitha had significant injuries to her face. We suspected that she may had been injured on the road. Her injuries included a badly broken tooth and a very sore jaw and ear.

Sully's pelvic injury

"Sully", a very handsome 8 month-old British short hair, visited us earlier this month as he was unable to stand on one of his back legs. His owners were worried as Sully hadn't come in for dinner the night before and didn't seem his usual self.

Kitty's trip to the dentist

Kitty recently visited us at Blackburn Vet Centre as she was due for a routine check-up. During the examination, one of the vets discovered that Kitty had quite a bit of staining on her teeth towards the back of her mouth.

The amazing things a cat will eat - meet Porscha

Porscha is a 20 week old domestic shorthair cat who presented at Blackburn Vet Centre recently with a concerning problem. Her owners had noticed her retching quite frequently the morning we saw her and they were understandably very concerned about what was happening with their new addition to the family. During examination, Porscha was quite uncomfortable in her throat, and retched on numerous occasions.

George the British Short hair and his sore leg

Recently we were visited by George, a 4 year old male British Shorthair cat. George's owner was concerned that he had been a bit sore on his left front leg for a few days now, and wasn't improving much at all. It was soon realised that x-rays were required to investigate the problem further. These x-rays revealed that George unfortunately had a fracture in this leg, in an area equivalent to a human hand between the wrist and fingers.

Cats can get skin cancer too ... Huckle's story

Huckle, an 11 year old DSH cat had been seen by us for a growth on his chin that was getting worse over time. It had gotten to the point of bleeding and causing him pain when it rubbed on objects. It was recommended that we biopsy the lump to try and find out what we were dealing with and the
best way to treat it.
