Blackburn Veterinary Centre - Kitten Adoption Scheme

The Blackburn Veterinary Centre is part of the Kitten Adoption Scheme. This scheme has been implemented in many veterinary clinics and aims to find homes for unwanted kittens.

A journey to remember - Australia Zoo and DreamWorld

My name is Michelle and I'm one of the nurses at Blackburn Vet Centre. I just thought I'd share some pictures and information on my recent trip to Australia Zoo. I travelled up north with my partner Jason where we had the opportunity to see many of Australia's native animals up close at the Zoo.

Mama Snow finds a new home

If you happened to have visited us at Blackburn Vet Centre recently you most likely met a beautiful white cat by the name of "Mama Snow". This gorgeous 4 year old girl was originally found abandoned in a drain with her 3 young kittens earlier in the year.

Welcome to Dr Fiona Turner

Meet our new team member, Dr Fiona Turner. Fiona graduated in 2006 from the University of Melbourne. She has recently joined the team at Blackburn Vet Centre and has a special interest in preventative health care as well as dog and cat medicine.

Outside of the clinic Fiona enjoys spending time up at her family's farm with her big grey horse "Podgy", her little dog "Zoe" and a naughty tortie "Pickles". She looks forward to meeting you and your adorable pets soon.

Our Pet Pep Program

Blackburn Veterinary Centre has recently begun their Pet PEP program for 2008. The Pets & People Education Program has been developed to help schools and scout groups incorporate learning about pets and other animals into their curriculum programs. So far vets and nurses from Blackburn Vet Centre have visited:

Kitten Kindy has arrived

Kitten Kindy is a fun and informative way to train and socialise your new kitten. During the 3 week course you will cover various topics regarding the care of your kitten and learn how to teach your kitten some basic skills. Kitten Kindy is priced at $44 (inc GST) for the 3 week course. Classes are conducted on Monday evenings for 1 hour.

Take a 'bow', famous canines get their own 'Walk of fame'

The first ever permanent 'Dog Walk of Fame' has recently been unveiled in London! Honouring the legends of the silver screen such as Lassie, Toto (from the Wizard of Oz), Gromit (from Wallace and Gromit), Fang (from the Harry Potter movies) and more. Each year a new dog will join the 'walk' and be commemorated with a plaque and a bench at the heart of famous Battersea Park.
