Smoot is a seven year old Mastiff cross. She has suffered from many injuries during her life, ranging from the simple (cut foot pads) to the complex (fractured radius in 2000). But in a great example of "they never learn", Smoot managed to escape from the backyard again. And what a great job she did this time.

Her wounds were most likely consistent with being involved in a motor vehicle accident. Her front legs copped the brunt of being dragged along the road, resulting in huge areas of skin loss and exposed tissues - "De-gloving injuries" as they are referred to. Two hours of reconstructive surgery later and Smoot was all put back together again. She is now leading a normal happy life, but no doubt still pacing the back yard fence, thinking about her next adventure...
